About Us
MJC Investment Corporation (MJIC) is a publicly-listed company whose primary business is in the tourism and entertainment industries. Listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) under the ticker symbol "MJIC", the company is majority-owned by a group of strategic investors with substantial experience in financial and tourism-related projects, with the Manila Jockey Club, Inc., also a listed company, as the biggest single stockholder.
MJIC's business efforts are currently and predominantly focused on the Philippines' only world-class horse racing experience at our San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite, a mere 20-minute drive from the Philippines' financial capital district of Makati. The bulk of our revenues are derived from our horse race betting operations, through more than 250 Off Track Betting ("OTB") stations that are owned and franchised around the country, as well as from bets placed at our Turf Club.
Our secondary revenues are derived from our shares in the co-developments we have with Ayala Corporation in various condominium and office towers at the San Lazaro Business and Tourism Park township in Sta. Cruz, Manila, and from the suburban Canyon Ranch development located at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite, in partnership with Century Properties. Ancillary revenues are derived from our horse stabling rental operations as well as revenues from casino at the San Lazaro Leisure Park.
MJIC is also engaged in the operations of the first luxury hotel, entertainment, and tourism hub lo-cated in Sta. Cruz, Manila—the Winford Manila Resort and Casino (WMRC). Aiming to realize the full commercial potential of WMRC, MJIC completed the interiors of the hotel and casino facilities in 2017. WMRC offers world-class accommodations within its 0.75-hectare property, an 18-storey high-rise development with 128 premium hotel rooms, fine dining restaurants, a pillar-less 900+ capacity ballroom, and over 9,000 square meters of internationally-designed indoor entertainment space that regularly hosts well-known Filipino artists.
Currently, WMRC's three-floor gaming area operates 32 gaming tables and 545 electronic table games. Casino plans to increase table games from 32 to 40 by year-end, and slots from 527 to 600. Ground floor casino will be renovated within the last quarter to expand gaming area to ac-commodate additional slot machines and electronic table games. Renovation of four WMRC park-ing floors for conversion to business process outsourcing (BPO) space is currently ongoing for third party leasing by Q4, 2020.
In preparation for the "new normal", WMRC implemented and strictly enforces new health stand-ards and safety protocols in partnership with ECOLAB, the global leader in hygiene technologies. The Casino introduced safety measures on all gaming floors, which include the expansion of the gaming area and utilization of the 3/F in order to position slot machines one meter apart; placement of acrylic barriers for table games and electronic table games; and restrictions such as a maximum of three patrons per gaming table and a no bystander rule for slots.
Other safety measures introduced throughout the property are the mandatory wearing of face masks by all guests and employees; express check-in and cashless payment options; foot disinfecting mats at all entry points; thermal scanning of all incoming guests and employees; hourly disinfection of all public areas; rapid testing of all employees including concessionaires; and thorough cleaning and disinfection of hotel rooms of every departing guest using high grade disinfectants, fogging ma-chines, and UV lighting to ensure the health and safety of all WMRC guests and employees.
As MJIC broadens its business horizons, Manila Jockey Club likewise recently engaged in cock-fighting through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Manila Cockers Club, Inc. Manila Cockers Club has become the primary revenue generator for the Company in the last three years of its operations. The innovative ideas of Manila Cockers Club gave a boost to the traditional and age-old cock-fighting industry—not only by enhancing the cultural heritage of sabong, but by providing liveli-hood to the rural population at the same time.
